The GHLPA or the Greater Houston Loss Prevention Alliance is a program that was established to prevent kidnapping and other crimes in store and parking lots. The GHLPA has put together lots of events. One event was to kick off their 5th annual "Safe Shopping Starts with YOU" holiday shopping safety campaign. On this campaign HPD officers demonstrated the dos and don'ts of burglary motor vehicle (BMV) prevention and distribute theft reduction report cards on windshields of motor vehicles. This "Safe Shopping Starts with You" campaign has been going on for seven years. Retailers that attend the event are retailers like- Wal-Mart, H-E-B, Kroger, Fiesta, Randall's, Target, Walgreens, and CVS come together and comprise with Greater Houston Loss Prevention Alliance (GHLPA).
